Just because you don't play cricket doesn't mean you can't become involved with a cricket club. Being a part of a cricket club can be an incredibly rewarding experience, whether you are a scorer, administrator, masseur, scoreboard attendant, team manager, practice captain, support staff, kiosk co-ordinator, coaching assistant, selector, committee-person or social member.

Premier Cricket is the senior level of club cricket in Western Australia and any of the Premier Clubs would welcome your involvement at their club. Click here for a list of all Premier Clubs.

Cricket Department Roles



The Fremantle District Cricket Cub (FDCC) has a proud history dating back to 1852 and is one of sixteen WACA premier clubs in Perth.


The FDCC has four senior sides with the current coaching structure comprising of a Director of Cricket, Head Coach, Senior Assistant Coach and two Assistant Coaches providing technical batting and bowling advice to our entire playing group.


FDCC prides itself on not only developing state and international cricketers but also administrators and coaches.


FDCC are currently seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for all cricket department roles that will form the cricket departments structure in 2021-22 and beyond. Ideally the coaching positions would be based on a 2-3-year contract.

Scarborough Cricket Club


Premier Cricket Coaching Opportunity


Scarborough Cricket Club (SCC) entered the WACA District Competition (now Premier Cricket) in 1957-58 and today is one of the most successful Clubs in the competition. SCC has an exciting opportunity for an appropriately qualified, innovative, dedicated and experienced Coach to lead the Club as Head Coach. This is a unique opportunity to build on the recent successes including the Premier Cricket Club Championship (2019/20) and taking out the Colts Premiership (2020/21) for the first time in 25 years.


SCC Head Coach


The role is remunerated requiring a commitment in season of approximately 20 hours a week. The SCC Head Coach must attend and lead all club training sessions and matches as required by the Club. The Coach must represent SCC at all WACA events and functions as required.

The SCC Head Coach will attend all SCC Functions and submit a written post season report to the SCC Playing Committee.

The position reports to:

  • SCC Club President

    Required Skills and Experience


  • Senior Cricket Coaching Qualifications - preferably CA Level 2 and above
  • Advanced knowledge of cricket tactics as they apply to all three (3) forms of the game
  • At least five (5) years experience coaching cricket at a Senior Cricket level
  • Advanced communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to tailor the communication to suit the audience
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills capable of engaging at group and individual level
  • Experience coaching discrete skills of the game (eg. batting, bowling, fielding, etc)
  • A demonstrated commitment to implementing and enforcing appropriate code of behaviour across all Grades in the Club, setting an example for Coaches, Players and Spectators alike
  • Experience in managing Assistant/Specialist Coaches
  • Highly advanced organisational skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to work unsupervised
  • An understanding of the operational and cultural environment of WA cricket.
  • Ability to critically evaluate player skills and offer correctional advice
  • Ability to create an environment for Premier cricketers to thrive and succeed
  • Ability to identify and work with talented players
  • A patient, positive and encouraging manner with players (may include underage children)
  • The ability to work with Players and Parents (relates to Junior Porgramme) in relaiton to planning for the development of the Player, selection and non selection management, etc
  • Cricket playing experience at a high level – ideally WACA level

  • Must hold a current Working With Children Card
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Valid A Class drivers license


Key Roles and Responsibility


  • Develop and implement a coaching strategy based on The Australian Way Coaching Philosophy;
  • Design and implement the SCC Pre Season programme, (skills, strategy and physical preparation) in consultation with all Club appointed coaches, cricket specialists and players, including booking of venues and arrangment of scratch matches;
  • Design and implement a vibrant, high quality weekly training programme for all senior grades, utilising the skills and knowledge of the Assistant Coaching Group;
  • Develop and support individual player Personal Development programmes and initiatives;
  • Implement a specfic programme for those players in the SCC Player Matrix;
  • Communicate and demonstrate the required standard of Player’s code of behaviour on and off the field as representatives of the SCC;
  • Maintain regular and insightful communication with the SCC Playing Committee regarding the coaching plans and performance of Assistant, specialised coaches, A Grade Captain and the playing squad.
  • Where relevant support SCC meeting WACA Premier Club grant requirements
  • Represent the SCC at media events, Sponsor and Club functions or SCC meetings as required.
  • Develop, implement and communicate the Club’s coaching strategies, goals and game plans to all senior coaches and players. This includes ensuring there is adequate engagement and connection between the SCC Senior Coaching Group and Junior Coach Coordinator and Junior Coaches.
  • Worl colloboratively and positively with the A Grade Captain, providing mentoring and advice as required;
  • Manage assistant and specialised coaches for the senior squad ensuring this group is conducting their duties appropriately and on an ongoing basis;
  • Working in colloboration with the SCC Chairman of Selectors, participate in SCC senior team selections.
  • Oversee the preparation and development of SCC teams who compete at all levels. This includes;
    • Plan and facilitating all pre game warm up sessions;
    • Working “one on one” with individuals to identify and improve performance
    • Assist with Team Selections
    • Advise Junior Coaches on plans for emerging talent
  • Attendance at State development opportunities to develop knowledge in coaching space (requirement for Premier Cricket grant funding);
  • Liaise with WACA Regional Cricket Manager and/or State Pathways Manager regarding Junior Pathways;
  • Operate within the agreed SCC budget;
  • Assist with SCC Club fund raising initiatives.
