Melville 2-62 b Midland-Guildford 61 (Kozma 20; Edgar 3-0)
Melville have secured the 2017-18 Premier T20 Flag with a comprehensive performance over Midland Guildford at Lilac Hill on Sunday. Midland-Guildford won the toss and elected to bat first which they will regret as Melville put on a excellent display of fielding which emphasised the importance of clean fielding in the short format of the game. Opening batsmen Alisha Kozma (20) was looking dangerous before falling victim to one of 6 run out's in their innings. The middle order crumbled as multiple Melville players displayed their skills in the field all claiming crucial wickets through out the innings. Consecutive dismissals ultimately stunned their opponents and some late hitting from Beth Dawson (16) was put to an end due to diving over head catch from Carla Hunter that wrapped up the innings for just 61. Amy Edgar was very damaging with the ball as she cleaned up the lower order finishing with figures of 3 wickets for just 4 runs from her 4 overs. In response Melville's Rebecca West (14) and Amy Edgar (17) showed their promise at the top of the order followed by Carla Hunter (14n.o) and G Ireland (13n.o) who saw their team to an A Grade T20 Premiership for the 2017-18 season in just the 10th over. Amy Edgar for her impressive bowling performance and contribution at the top of the batting order was awarded the player of the match.
Subiaco Floreat 7-75(cc) (Johnston 20) b Midland-Guildford 38 (Naidoo 4-7, Meintjes 3-4).
Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club has received their first Female B Grade Premiership in their Club's history as they upset ladder leaders Midland-Guildford in the final on Sunday at Lilac Hill. In hot and humid conditions, Midland Guildford won the toss and elected to bowl first. Captain and Opener Emily Johnston (20) played a crucial role at the top of the order generating some early momentum however due to a sharp piece of fielding from Madeline Gardner she was run out from a direct hit which was crucial for the home side Midland Guildford. Subiaco Floreat's Catherine Clissold-Jones and Sophie Fletcher (9) also contributed to the team reaching 75 from their 20 overs. Jazmyne Roberts claimed 2 for 14 off 3 overs and Mel Jecks 2 for 8 off her 4 overs for Midland Guildford. At the change of innings it seemed that Midland Guildford we're in a very comfortable position to win. However Subiaco Floreat's opening bowler Sophie Fletcher claimed a wicket second ball of the innings which triggered a calamitous collapse of Midland Guildford's batting order as Jacqueline Naidoo then cleaned up the middle order finishing with figures of 4 for 7 off 3 overs. Team mate Ayla Meintjes was also damaging with 3 wickets for 4 runs. Unfortunately for Midland Guildford the damage was done early and Subiaco-Floreat wrapped up the innings and the flag, dismissing their opponents for just 38 in the 9th over. Jacqueline Naidoo received Woman of the Match for her stunning bowling performance and Subiaco-Floreat came away as the Premiers for 2017-18 Premier Female B Grade T20 Competition.
