The Male Premier Cricket season got underway with One Day matches on Saturday 6th October. First and Second Grade also continued on Sunday with Round 2 fixtures. To catch up with highlights please read below and check out all of the scores on MyCricket.
Melville and Claremont-Nedlands fought out a high scoring affair with Melville making 6/236 (50) before it was chased down by Claremont-Nedlands who made 4/238 (48.4). Jamie Crawley top scored for the Tigers with 78* while Tom Smith posted 89 for the Storm opening the batting. Midland-Guildford and Willetton also had a competitive match at Lilac Hill 1. Willetton made 179 (49.4) thanks to some late order hitting from Blair Walsh (40) and Chris Lagana (45). Michael Ferreira took 4-27 for Midland-Guildford. Midland-Guildford made 5/183 (48.5) i reply with Hudson Knight compiling a sublime 96 from 102 balls. Lagana capped off a good game for the Dragons picking up 2-38 from 10 overs.
Claremont-Nedlands was routed for 52 (34.1) by Melville at Melvista Oval. Four of the Storm bowlers took two wickets a piece before their batsmen made short work of the target making 3/55 (15.4). It was a better day for the batsmen at Fletcher Park though with Perth making 9/214 (50) before Joondalup fell agonizingly close with 9/208 (45). Thomas Evans was outstanding for the Demons making 100. Joondalup had contributions from a number of batsmen scoring in the forties. The pick of the bowlers for the day were Blair Oakley (4-32) and Matthew Shyne (4-30) for Joondalup.
Bayswater-Morley made a stunning 7/308 (45) with Patel smashing 101 from 56 balls in the lower order. It catapulted the Bears past the 300 mark and set an imposing total for Gosnells. The Haws could only muster 103 in reply as Patel capped off an outstanding game with 4-23 from 9 overs in what was undoubtedly a man of the match performance.
Callum Austen hit a magnificent century for Rockingham-Mandurah as the Mariners made 3/224 (50) against Wanneroo. Wanneroo could not capitalise on some starts from their key batsmen as they fell for 9/170 (46.3). Ryan Done picked up 5-61 from 10 overs for the Mariners. Brandon Walters was the other century maker of the round as he made 108 for Scarborough in its 7/217 (50). It wasn't enough however as Subiaco Floreat made 7/218 (48.4) in reply thanks to 56 from Kiran Prashanth at the top of the order a host of contributions from his teammates.
