Each round the most outstanding players of the Inverarity and McKenzie Shield competitions are recognised as the Players of the Round. The Player of the Round is determined by a points system with all winners receiving a certificate at the Junior Awards Night.
The McKenzie Shield Player of the Round is Corey Wasley (Rockingham-Mandurah). After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, Corey led his played in the field well, but was most instrumental with the ball, picking up 6/30 off his 10 overs to restrict Claremont-Nedlands to 9/181 off 49 overs. In response, regular wickets kept falling as Corey was the top-scorer with the bat, scoring a brisk 34 off 23 balls, including 3 fours & 3 sixes as Rockingham-Mandurah fell short of the target. Not the ideal result but well done Corey!
The Inverarity Shield Player of the Round is Will Malajczuk (Subiaco-Floreat). Winning the toss, Will led his team from the front as the captain, scoring a brilliant 99 off 120 balls, including 16 fours. He was unlucky to miss out on a well-deserved ton as he was run-out in the nervous nineties. In defending a strong target, he contributed with the ball, picking up 1/6 off his 3 overs as he captained the team well to take home a comfortable win. Well done Will!
