Date of Event Western Australian Cricket Association: Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:56PM

Each round the most outstanding players of the Inverarity and McKenzie Shield competitions are recognised as the Players of the Round. The Player of the Round is determined by a points system with all winners receiving a certificate at the Junior Awards Night.

ROUND 7

McKenzie Shield (Under 14s)

The McKenzie Shield Player of the Round is Corey Wasley (Rockingham-Mandurah). As Melville won the toss and batted first, some accurate bowling from the Mariners bowlers restricted them to 8/121. Corey bowled well to only give away 22 runs off his 10 overs, including 3 maidens, but was unable to pick a wicket. The simple looking chase was turned into a masterclass as Corey opened the batting and went on an absolute rampage to amass 265 off 149 balls, including 24 fours and 15 sixes! This special feat was the second highest individual score ever-recorded in Junior WA Premier Cricket on MyCricket. Sensational stuff Corey!

Inverarity Shield (Under 13s)

The Inverarity Shield Player of the Round is Zachary Sarsero (Rockingham-Mandurah). As Melville batted first, Zac made an impression straight away with the ball as he bowled superbly to collect figures of 5/22 off 8 overs to restrict Melville to 9/122. The chase proved tricky for the Mariners as 5 run outs saw the dismissed for 73. Zac held his own, being not out on 12 off 28 balls, including 1 four. Unfortunate result but Great effort Zac!
