Each round the most outstanding players of the Inverarity and McKenzie Shield competitions are recognised as the Players of the Round. The Player of the Round is determined by a points system with all winners receiving a certificate at the Junior Awards Night.
The McKenzie Shield Player of the Round is Tyne Dodds (Rockingham-Mandurah). Winning the toss, Rockingham-Mandurah had no hesitation in batting first. As captain, Tyne led his team from the front, opening the batting and playing a stellar knock of 107 off 146 balls, including 6 fours. This propelled his team to a strong total of 224. Defending the total, Tyne managed his bowlers well as Willetton were no match to Mariners, with Dragons all out for 108. Tyne backed up his bowling efforts with an impressive spell of 2/25 off 6 overs. This superb effort from Tyne earned him the Player of the Round performance across all junior grades!
The Inverarity Shield Player of the Round is Taj Longmuir (Melville). Winning the toss, Melville went in to bat first. As the Melville batting struggled, Taj played a gritty innings of 24 off 47 balls, top-scoring for his team. Defending a small total of 79, Taj did his best to win the game for his team with fantastic figures of 4/19 off 8 overs, while also making valuable contributions on-field by taking 2 catches and inflicting 1 runout. This individual brilliance still fell short of Melville getting a win but Well done Taj!
