Midland-Guildford CC have begun their A Grade season very well, defeating University CC by 80 runs at Lilac Hill. University won the toss and elected to bowl first which proved costly as Midland-Guildford piled on a strong total of 252 runs from their 50 overs. It was an excellent performance by Midland-Guildford's top five batters all posting at least 20 runs or more. Alisha Kozma was the stand out (77) alongside Kate Shallard (34) and Melissa Holmes (42). Regina Deleeuw was the pick of University’s bowling taking 3 for 33 off 8.5 overs. In response University fought gallantly but in the end weight of runs proved to be the difference. Captain Cassie Stephens stood up (44) with help from Emily Smith (36) and Nicole Ayres (28) Caitlin Couch 2/32 off 10 overs and Amanda Ballucci 2/18 off 7 overs were the pick of Universities Bowlers.

South Perth CC 2/287 def Subiaco Floreat CC 10/116 - Richardson Park

South Perth CC have started their season off strongly with a comprehensive win over Subiaco Floreat CC at Richardson Park. The home side won the toss and elected to bat. Two standout out performances were from captain Melissa Cameron (107) and Chloe Wain (121n.o). Lauren Mainwaring also compiled a handy 36 that put them into a very strong position going into the change of innings. A tough day for the Subiaco-Floreat bowlers, Sam Quadrio toiled hard with a respectable 1 for 34 off 10 overs. Such a total would prove to be too much for Subiaco-Floreat who were all out for 116. A notable mention goes to Lizzy Alderson (48). Cameron further added to her fine form with the bat with 3/3 off 5.3 overs and Sarah Patman also took 3/15 off 3 overs. In the end, it was a comprehensive victory for South Perth.
