Each round the most outstanding players of the Inverarity and McKenzie Shield competitions are recognised as the Players of the Round. The Player of the Round is determined by a points system with all winners receiving a certificate at the Junior Awards Night.
The McKenzie Shield Player of the Round is Corey Wasley (Rockingham-Mandurah). After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, Corey was the standout bowler for his team as he picked up figures of 4/10 off his 9.3 overs. This included a superb 6 maiden overs! Chasing a small total, Corey combined with his team-mate Reece Torrent, who had a spectacular innings of 172. Corey also continued his dominance with the bat as he scored 113 off 81 balls, including 22 fours and 4 sixes! The Mariners finished with 7/357 after these brilliant efforts. Well done Corey!
The Inverarity Shield Player of the Round is Benjamin Cranny (Perth). Winning the toss, Ben elected to bat first. Opening the batting, he led his team from the front as he scored 74 runs off 90 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six! This skipper's knock got Perth up to a total of 5/186 off their 40 overs. Defending the total, Ben certainly made his presence felt as he took 4/27 off his 9 overs and also took 3 catches in the field which contributed to a very well contested victory for his team. Great effort Ben!
